About Me

Emily Baker, Ph.D., LPCC-S

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

My name is Emily (she/her), and I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Supervisor (LPCC-S) in the state of Ohio (E.2101580-SUPV). I care deeply about accessibility, mental health, and social justice, and have spent much of my life working to understand and support myself and those around me.

I obtained my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Cincinnati in 2018 and my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from The Ohio State University in 2021. I spent several of my early career years in postdoctoral and research positions, where I directed research in prescription drug misuse, substance misuse prevention programming, and harm reduction. Currently, I teach graduate-level counselor education courses and provide research and evaluation for grant-based projects.

As a clinician, I have completed additional training in various evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, the Gottman Method, and Harm Reduction Psychotherapy . I have worked in a variety of settings, serving adults, children and adolescents, couples, families, and groups. I enjoy using a strengths-based, inclusive, and humanistic approach that incorporates humor, mindfulness, and open feedback.

My primary clinical specialities are trauma, anxiety, depression, substance misuse or addiction, LGBTQ+ issues, and grief.

It’s a honor to walk alongside clients as they navigate challenges, work through pain, and discover growth and joy. I’d be grateful to support you in your personal journey, whatever that may look like for you.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

— Carl Rogers
